Our program's creative teaching techniques will help you to gain the reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills that you need to communicate effectively. We will also help you to meet your learning goals, whether you want to attend school, LINC courses, a post-secondary institution, or prepare for TOEFL, IELTS, CELPIP, or MELAB exams.
All of our courses are offered online, so you can learn in the comfort of your own home and work with a teacher remotely (or in person, if a teacher is available).
Our beginner courses are offered to people of all ages and ability levels. We use simple songs and games to teach English grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation.
The first course is completely music-based; then, as you become more proficient, we use vocabulary and grammatical structures gleaned from the songs to engage you in simple conversations. We focus on two significant pronunciation issues: word endings and long-vowel sounds.
Intermediate courses develop reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills within the context of essays, stories, and parables. Stories are self-contained units of grammar, syntax, and meaning; thus, in teaching a story, we give you a body of meaning that you can easily remember, reproduce, and transfer to new learning events.
In intermediate courses, you will give short speeches, gain critical reading and writing skills, and make personal connections with the texts—all pertinent skills for an academic learning environment.
We focus on specific problems with pronunciation and three important grammatical structures that you perhaps have found difficult to master: verb tense, the verb "to be," and subject/verb agreement.
Our advanced courses focus on speaking and conversational skills, reading comprehension, syntax, grammar, and vocabulary. You can work through advanced courses independently using our video series, and your teacher will regularly monitor your progress. Advanced courses are also offered to small groups if a teacher is available.
- Advanced Course #1: English Intonation.
English is a stress-timed language; this means that some syllables are pronounced for a longer period of time than others are. Your pronunciation might be perfect, but if you stress the wrong sounds in a sentence, your speech will be difficult to understand.
- Advanced Course #2: English Pronunciation
In this course, we will teach you every sound in the English language, focussing on the sounds that you find most difficult to pronounce.
- Advanced Course #3: English Stress
Course #3 focusses on which syllables to stress within words and which sounds should be unstressed. This course also reinforces the skills taught in Courses 1 and 2.
By the time you graduate from Course #3, you will have acquired the skills you need to speak clearly and fluently.
Move through this online course at your own pace and learn how to write powerful sentences, paragraphs, and essays.
